Name: Fort Atkinson Club Spring Lecture Series: “Agriculture in a Changing Climate: Solutions in the Soil” by Craig Ficenec
Date: April 10, 2018
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM CDT
Event Description:

Climate change presents many threats to agricultural production, but there are solutions in the soil beneath our feet. Craig Ficenec, of the Sand County Foundation, will describe the emerging movement to improve soil health in agriculture at scales large and small. His talk will profile how farmers and ranchers are building resilience to weather extremes by enhancing soil biology and increasing the carbon content of soils, which also helps offset humans’ contributions to climate change.

As the Program Director at the Sand County Foundation, Craig Ficenec manages programs supporting natural resource conservation on agricultural lands. In his spare time, Craig volunteers with the Jefferson County chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots organization that advocates for national policies to address climate change. He lives in Fort Atkinson with his wife Cynthia and their two sons.
