During the past 28 years, the Fort Atkinson Regional Science Fair has introduced a generation-plus of youngsters to the scientific method, encouraging hands-on exploration while holding youths to high standards.

The newest entrants in this proud tradition will be honored Saturday, Feb. 9, when the 29th annual Fort Atkinson Regional Science Fair takes place at the Hoard Historical Museum. The open public viewing of projects will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m., with the speaker and awards program from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Amy Lutzke, who serves as coordinator for the science fair in conjunction with a group of committee members, said that the event got its start three decades ago with a coalition of citizens who wanted to open up this type of enrichment opportunity to area students.
