Literacy Tutors Needed! Fall is a great time to expand your horizons and accept new challenges. The Jefferson County Literacy Council is now recruiting volunteer tutors to serve in the community.

The JCLC is a community-based adult education organization that provides free basic literacy, English as a Second language, Citizenship, Computer Literacy and pre-GED instruction. The organization seeks volunteers throughout Jefferson County to work with adults one-on-one or in small groups. It is the mission of the Jefferson County Literacy Council to build a better community through literacy. The organization’s team of dedicated and well-supported volunteers are essential to helping those in the community with literacy challenges achieve their educational goals.

Currently, the greatest need for volunteer tutors exists in Fort Atkinson and Jefferson. The benefits of volunteering are numerous. Many past and current JCLC volunteers have reported a great deal of satisfaction in what they have learned and accomplished with the organization. Patient, friendly individuals over the age of 18 with at least a high school education and good literacy skills make up our current volunteer pool. Bilingual skills are an added bonus, but not necessary.

Orientation Sessions:
Monday, November 6 - 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Tuesday, November 14 - 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Thursday, November 16 - 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Training Session:
Saturday, November 18 - 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Advanced registration for the orientation and training are required for participation. All orientation and training sessions take place at the Jefferson Area Business Center – 218 S. Wisconsin Drive, Suite #9 Jefferson, WI
