Doctors of internal medicine, also called internists, are dedicated to learning how to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases that affect adults. Internists are sometimes referred to as the doctor's doctor because they often act as consultants to other physicians to help solve puzzling diagnostic problems. Doctors of internal medicine treat the whole person, not just the internal organs.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dedicated to the medical care of infants, children and adolescents. Treating a child is not like treating a miniature adult. A major difference between pediatrics and adult medicine is that children cannot make decisions for themselves. We support the health and well-being of children and are advocates for children's health issues.
